New Members

The club is always looking for new members, both experienced players looking for a change of club and also for any one who has never played before but would like to give it a try. The sport is suitable for grand parents and grand children and all ages in between as can be seen by a visit to the British Crown Green Bowling Association’s Web site - click Here or Here.

If you would like to give it a try use the Contact Us button to provide us with your details and we will arrange for a member to give you a trial session - you do not have to have bowls we will provide every thing that you need.

You MUST wear shoes/trainers that have a flat sole (i.e. no pronounced heel) but that’s all you need supply.  Dress is casual and jeans are allowed.

Please note that the green will be closed until about the 3rd week in March so trial sessions will not be available until then.  Enquiries are welcome at any time.

Welcome to the 2012 Web Site

At long last I have found the time to update the site and I trust that you all approve of the changes.  If you have any problems or suggestions for improvement please use the Contact Us button on the menu above to send me your comments.
It has been re-written in in order to make it more flexible and much easier to update.

Web Site Use

The site is designed for a minimum screen display of 1024 x 768 pixels but an ideal size would be 1280 x 1024 or greater.

I will update the site at least once a week in the playing season but only when required at other times.

The date that a page was last updated will be shown at the foot of each page.

Web Site Content

I have provided the content that I consider to be appropriate for a Bowls Club web site but if there is any other content that you would like to see included please contact me.  If any proposed content is readily available I will do my best to include it, but if requires lots of my time to locate and/or programme it will probably be refused or scheduled for the end of the bowling season.

Site & Green

The end of season maintenance was completed in the second week of October and, unlike last year, was completed in dry and sunny weather.  The green was heavily scarified, solid tined, over-seeded where required followed by the application of several tons of top dressing.  Fingers crossed that it will have laid the foundation for a good green in 2012.

This year we did not have to undertake any major repairs to the bowling hut but protective mesh screens were placed over the windows adjacent to the cricket pitch.

The flower tubs and border were ‘put to bed’ for the winter.

Only one item is outstanding at this time and that is to ‘service’ the benches and we are still seeking members to ‘adopt a bench’ - please get in touch if you can raise a group to be responsible for a bench.
