This year the format for the club’s competitions will change -
At the beginning of March lists will placed in he bowling hut and each member who wishes to participate in any of the competitions will be invited to tick the appropriate box against their name. The lists will be removed at the end of March and then used to produce schedules for each competition.
The competitions will be based upon an eleven end round robin of three games with the aggregate score of the three rounds being used to determine which players go forward for the next round and, depending on numbers, that could be a quarter or semi final. The quarter and semis will be a single game of 21 up.
The quarter and/or semi finals will be played on a separate day as it is intended to ensure that no player will be scheduled to play more than three games on any one day. It is possible that quarters and semis for more than one competition could be played on the same day. The final for all competitions will take place on a Sunday at the end of September.
A computer will be used to randomly select the pairings for the doubles cups and also select the player(s)/opponent(s) for the first round games.
If any members are unable to play when scheduled then, with the agreement of their opponents, they will be able to play on any date mutually agreeable to both parties. If (unlikely!) mutual agreement cannot be reached the committee (minus any interested parties to the dispute) will act as binding arbitrators.
The dates for all events will be published on the web and in the bowling hut early in April.
